100 degrees

It has officially been announced that we reached 100 f for the first time this century today (Thursday). I think the high was 102. The last time it was at least 100f was July 30, 1999. When that was announced Jane and I looked at one another... THAT WAS THE DAY WE MOVED HERE! Crazy.

I still remember that day quite well. It was the hottest day of the year (literally). We rented a big Uhaul truck in Findlay, OH, loaded up our stuff and moved it all to Yoder. We fit everything we owned into the Uhaul and our minivan. The four of us loaded and unloaded every single thing. Carrie was between 8th and 9th grade, and Isaac was between 5th and 6th. Somewhere around here we have pictures of us looking sweaty gross hot. Then we went to return the Uhaul to a rental place, and the one we had googled directions for was closed. I believe that was the first time Isaac had ever heard his mother say a cuss word. So we ended up driving around Fort Wayne - having never been in the city before - until we found a place with a Uhaul sign.

I also remember as we were moving in that someone stopped in and offered to let us come swim in their pond. But we didn't see or hear from anyone else. At least they had just recently installed central air in the parsonage. I cannot imagine what it would have been like otherwise, because there are no shade trees around the house at all.

Anyway... it was a memorable day. Today was not quite as memorable, but it was still hotter than heck.
