Always be closing

I have had a couple of days of training with our General Manager, who is also the person in charge of sales. He is a great guy that I really like, and he lives and breathes sales. Even though my personality is not at all like his, I admire his passion for what he does. I like anybody who can get me excited about something. I also like his approach to training (he uses the 3dm square).

The other day he brought up the clip about 'Always Be Closing,' and he couldn't remember the name of the movie it was from. While I was laying in bed that night it popped into my head, so I told him yesterday. I was thinking about the movie Glengarry Glen Ross from 1992, with Alec Baldwin, Al Pacino, Jack Lemon, Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey and Alan Arkin. I'm not sure I've even seen the movie (I probably have), but I think this clip is hilarious and I've watched it a ton of times (warning: lots of foul language). Here's the one I was thinking of...

What I didn't know was that there is another clip with the same sort of scene. The other one is from the movie Boiler Room from 2000, with Vin Diesel and Ben Affleck. I think this is the one our sales guy was talking about.

So, there ya go.... Apparently there are two 'Always Be Closing' scenes from movies. I suppose I'm kind of partial to the Alec Baldwin one because I'm older and relate more to the actors in it.

At any rate, I don't know how good of a closer I will ever be, but there is something about it that appeals to me. Maybe it's the competitive aspect of it or something. I dunno.

Oh, and... to be clear... our sales guy would NEVER talk or act like either of the guys in these clips. He is a total man of integrity and character. I doubt that he's ever even cussed in his life. He is still really good at what he does though.

Today I am back with the son-in-law. Yesterday I mostly just answered phones, and I did put two chairs together. I also made my first collections call! I liked the Downtown facility, but today will likely be a much more relaxing day. I got nothin' to complain about.

not to add another quote, I believe I also said this quite a bit over the past two weeks when the weather was so bad. I was like: "schools always be closing."
