And also that someone agrees with me on the conversion conversation. :)

Peace & blessings.danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10088260285661911833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18283131.post-26664507964854446912009-01-06T11:59:00.000-05:002009-01-06T11:59:00.000-05:00Dan, Thanks for posting your notes! I'll refer to this post when I want to remember anything specific thing about the conference.

I agree with you that no one wanted to answer David's question about conversion and what to do with it. The question seemed to be totally side stepped for some reason. People in this generation need something bigger than themselves to commit to, that being the mission of God and God Himself. I'm not sure why no one would answer the question.

Thanks again for the post!
JeremyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08789491354579148064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18283131.post-90370664575339412152009-01-05T16:30:00.000-05:002009-01-05T16:30:00.000-05:00Bruce,I hear ya. I think this stuff actually IS much more suited to rural/small town ministry than the big attractional Willowcreeky type stuff. It's just not talked about or applied in that context very much. Probably because, who wants to hear from people like us. :) Plus, there's not as big of a book market and whatnot.

I think you would have liked this (non)conference though - from what little I know about you. Maybe next time.

peace.danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10088260285661911833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18283131.post-84636165811840183932009-01-05T14:27:00.000-05:002009-01-05T14:27:00.000-05:00Dan,Give me a holler the next time something like ...Dan,

Give me a holler the next time something like this is in Ft Wayne. I would have went.....and froze with you.

You hit the nail on the head about rural ministry. It seems so much of the emerging stuff is West Coast/Big city focused. How do you make it work in a rural setting where nothing of significance has happened since McDonalds opened in 76? I don't know how it is where you live.......but here .......we live.......we die........next! Every Church is pretty much the same. Static or dying.

Don't get me wrong.......I LOVE living in rural NW Ohio BUT I would love to see meaningful Church ministry burst out in this area. In many Churches the highlight of the year is their annual chicken dinner.

I feel for pastors in rural areas who read all these "emerging" books and then realize there is not a chance in &&%% that this will work here.

BruceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18283131.post-73133586153399867832009-01-05T09:42:00.000-05:002009-01-05T09:42:00.000-05:00Thanks Ben.
