I made the switch

Yeah, so, I made the big switch over to Blogger Beta. I guess my blog still works, but my profile picture is GONE! I don't know if anything else is messed up or not. And I liked that picture... :(

And now it has been brought to my attention that I need to update my template, and I will therefore lose everything on my sidebar. What the...!

I am beginning to wonder if I made a big mistake.
I don't like change so much (at least when I'm the one who has to do the changing). I guess I really am an old fart now.
UPDATE: Well, so maybe it's not so bad... once you figure it out. I actually like the look of my test blog, so... look for this one to change in appearance sometime soon (I know you can't wait!).
Peace, friends. Revolution(ate).

You can come visit it any time you want at my blog in the comments section.

If you can find it anywhere (such as at MR's site) you should be able to right-click on the image and copy (or save) the image to your own hard drive. Then you can upload it again to your own site.

We've met before by email. I'll be glad to help you through the transition. In the end, I think you'll like Beta better, but it is different to work with.

Everyone will have to update to beta and eventually upgrade their template, it's only a matter of time. For me, I prefer being proactive and changing over time rather than waiting until the powers that be *force* me to change immediately.

I haven't upgraded my template yet simply because I have made many customizations and a good deal of the code with the new templates is different (yikes!) and I haven't taken the time to learn it and I haven't felt like re-creating my sidebar. Yuck.

However, I have created another blog so I can play with the template, and overall I like the new functionality.

I just looked at Bloglines and saw you had 25 posts!!! I know you can churn out multiple posts, but 25?? I KNEW you must've made the switch to Beta...and there ya go, you did :).

I TRIED to switch, but b/c of my custom template, it "wasn't ready for me" yet...knowing me, it might not EVER be ready ;).

Anyways, I hope it's kind to you with few bugs. And yeah, I miss the picture going awol, too.

CHANGE, yuck, I'm with you! I do not like it.

Ahhh, thanks Keith, and Mike, and Lily, and Robin, and Nancy, and... Well, it's getting better. Just takes some getting used to.

I think Keith is right, I will like it better eventually. And, like Lily, I've been messing with a couple of "test" blogs too. One of these days I'll change the template... but not today.

I really do appreciate your input (and I actually did snag my pic off of your blog, Mike). :)

Peace, folks,
dh

Looks good, change is good! As for the pic you had more hair at WTS but then again so did I.

See, I give technical assistance even when I'm not trying. If you get to the pearly gates before I do, I'll consider you obligated to put in a good word for me. "Look, I know this guys soul is going to sink like a rock tied to a rock, but I promised I'd put in a good word. Hmmm... what that word is, I have no idea."

I think you at least owe me royalties for that picture, though. I mean, just because it happens to resemble you, somewhat, doesn't mean its not my intellectual property like everything published on my blog--even stuff I don't write. Maybe we could compromise and you could just put in a LINK to your picture on my blog, so on a daily basis I could give you a Snidley Whiplash handlebar mustache or maybe a Fu-man-chu thing another day. Darken the glasses for a Roy Orbison affect... you know.

Alright, take it.

And you thought you were just a chainsaw salesman, Mike! I'll try to think of a word that might suffice. :)

And... before everyone thinks I am sooo vain as to want my pic on my profile (or maybe I am just vain)... it's actually the only pic of me that I have - short of having to bring the scanner out of retirement - and I think it makes me look smarter than I am with all those books in the background. =)

Rick,
Yes, I thought I recognized that sarcasm and wit. And you know what they say, "Old hippies never die, they just go bald." (though, for the record, I am NOT bald... yet!)

I am glad your stuff showed up and blogger didn't eat the whole thing. I had been keeping Word docs of my current template and each post incease Blogger decided to go postal and demolish my entire blog, but I have been really lazy about it. Now I am sooo far behind...

Hi Mert,
Well, I still haven't changed my template. We'll see if it works out or not. Good idea about keeping docs of your stuff. Me too.
peace,
