I took a week of vacation last week... sort of. I didn't get quite the entire week. I worked last Monday, then took the rest of the week off... Until Sunday night when we had our small group; and then I worked this Monday because there was just some stuff I needed to do. I was only going to work a partial day yesterday, but ended up working the entire day. Such is life. And, really, it was a terrible week of vacation because I spent almost the entire time thinking and talking about the church - thanks to some issues presently going on. That's pretty much how it goes.
At any rate, this was the first week of vacation for this new year. Even though I don't presently have a contract, and haven't had since July. Supposedly we are planning to move it from January to December (instead of August to July), and I'm not sure what the plan is supposed to be for me until then. I doubt that anyone has thought about it, or that anyone really cares all that much. So... I don't really know. But I wanted to keep track of the fact that I took some vacation time. Yeah...
I already stated what I did in an earlier post, but just to have it here too... Tuesday I rearranged the basement furniture and just hung around the house; Wednesday I worked in the yard at home; Thursday I went coat shopping, and finally got a winter coat (even though I still haven't taken the tags off); Friday Jane and I went to Michigan City, Indiana and stayed at the Blue Chip Casino hotel until Sunday morning. We had never been there, and won't likely go back. We're not gamblers, we were just looking for something to do. It had several nice restaurants, and they have bands playing from afternoon until pretty late in the morning, but otherwise... meh. Like I said, we're not gamblers. We played some slot machines, but that's just pretty boring. The worst part was the smoke though. I swear almost everyone was smoking, and it just about made us sick. So on Saturday we drove around the town for awhile, and went shopping at their outlet mall. Then we watched some sports on cable tv (since we don't have it). It was my first chance to see Illinois play football on tv for 2 seasons. Of course they lost. Sunday we headed out and came back home - we had a small group gathering that evening. So... not a very fun vacation overall. I would say that I at least got to not be at work, but since a lot of my work is in my head and my heart and not really centered in any one location, I felt like I was at work most of the time anyway. Yep... that's just the way it is...
