I ran 14 miles this morning. It was my first time over a half marathon this year. It didn't go too bad, but I was beat afterward.
We were gone all week on a family vacation. I was supposed to run 4/7/4 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. I ended up getting in 4/7/3. I did the 4 and 3 outside with Jane. I did the 7 miles on a treadmill at the resort we were staying at. Those runs all went well.
I was plenty nervous this morning before running. I don't know why I get nervous when going out for a random run. I guess I'm afraid of failure, as well as getting stuck several miles from home with no phone or anything. I do run with a "RunID" bracelet that has Jane and Carrie's phone numbers on it - just in case. You never know.
I averaged just under 10-minute miles over the entire run, which included two stops to refill my water bottle and eat a gel, and one somewhat extended stop to chat with a friend who comes into the Y I work at. Most of the miles were around 9:30, which was faster than I anticipated I would run.
Afterward I put my legs up the wall for 10 minutes or so, then I took what I think is my first ice bath. It was not a pleasant experience, but the way my legs and feet felt, I thought it might be a good idea.
Jane and Carrie ran the 'Runners On Parade' 5k in downtown Fort Wayne this morning. I guess I ran it with Jane last year. I just haven't been in the mood to do too many 5k's this summer. They cost so much money, and it's difficult to work them in on Saturdays.
Now I think I will take a nap, then this afternoon/evening we may head downtown for the Three Rivers Festival and the music at the library.
