A day in the park

I have been trying to spend some time outside lately. We have some beautiful parks near us, and since I'm not running much, walking in the park seems a good outlet. Nature, exercise, fresh air... those are good things to have and do.

This first pic is actually from Friday (so it should be "days" in the park rather than "day"). I went for a walk along the river greenway near our house. I stumbled upon this stuffed white tiger - or whatever it is. At first I wasn't sure what it was, and actually approached slowly. For some reason it seemed just a tad creepy to me. Interesting nonetheless. :)

Saturday the two of us made our way downtown to the new Promenade Park as well as Headwaters and Lawton Parks.. Without really thinking about it, it seems we do this more than I realize (take a weekend stroll through these parks). We start at the new park, follow the trail over to Headwaters, past the skate park (Lawton), around by the Old Fort, and meander up through The Landing area on Columbia Street. I checked it with my GPS watch yesterday and it's about 1 3/4 miles.

For as many times as we've been in Headwaters Park (east), I have to say that I'd never noticed this statue of Little Turtle. There were several others that I'd also not noticed before.

Anyway, after walking, we headed to Fort Wayne Outfitters and checked out some bikes. I know most of the people who work there because they have an outlet shop inside where I work. They got out these two bikes for us to ride, and insisted we take them around through the park. Oh my, they are nice. They also insisted we ride an ebike. We were a little hesitant, but I'm glad we did. It was awesome. It's like someone gives you a push while you are pedaling. It's hard to explain, but you definitely feel it. It was only afterward that we found out it was a $5000 bike! We might not have ridden it if we'd known it was that expensive.

I'm not sure if we will buy these particular bikes or not, but I really like the Linus bikes. They are a good quality bike for a fairly low price (for a quality bike). They are also really cool looking!

So, that was a nice couple hours spent in the park...
