Jane's birthday and our 1st date

Can you believe it's already March!?! That extra day in February didn't even help. It's... been busy. I guess.

Anyway, Jane's birthday was last Thursday. We went out to eat, and were in bed by nine as usual. We also went out Saturday night for a little more special of a meal. For her birthday I had the above flowers delivered to her office. I also got her a box of chocolates and some latte stuff for the Keurig.

It just so happens that TODAY is the anniversary of our very first date! It was March 2, 1981. I think that's 39 years ago, unless new math has changed it. We were engaged like 5 months later.

Our first date was to a girls high school volleyball game in Tampico, Illinois. That's about all there is to do in Tampico, even though it's the birthplace of a former president of the United States. If I remember correctly, m'Lady wore her brown suede jacket that night, brown leather shoes, and I think this checkered shirt that wasn't flannel but kind of looked like it. I could possibly be wrong about that, but I can clearly still picture us sitting on the bleachers together on the West side of the gym that night. I was a pretty happy guy. She's proof that I haven't always made bad decisions. :)

Memories are more meaningful the scarcer they get, ya know. That's why I need to quit slacking so much with the blog. Ugh. I can't imagine what it would be like if I were actually doing something with my life!

So... until the next time.
