I bought a new pair of running shoes and toe socks yesterday. I'm not sure if I will wear them for the marathon next month or not. First, it depends on IF I run a marathon next month (which is not looking hopeful at the moment). Also, on how soon they arrive. In this new trump-world-order you can't depend on shipping any longer, so who knows.
The shoes are Brooks Ghost 12 in gray/black, and I got them from Jackrabbit.com on sale for $45 off the regular price. I am currently wearing the Ghost 13, and didn't really want the 12 (I had 3 pair of 11s). I simply couldn't pass up the price. I also didn't really want the same exact color as the last 2 pairs I've bought, but wasn't thrilled about the other color options still available. I can deal with it, as they are slightly different.
This is my second pair of toe socks. The first pair I had from Injinji literally saved my feet. I used to get blisters every year until I got them. I haven't had a blister since I started wearing these. I only wear them when going longer than 8 miles or so. This pair - the Run Midweight Mini-Crew - is different from the first pair I got, but I wanted to try a little taller sock than no-show. So, we'll see.
I was happy enough to get not only new shoes, but shoes AND socks, for right at $100. I've been looking at both for some time - mostly waiting for shoes to go on sale. I debated between Hoka One One Clifton 6 or 7, as well as Brooks Ghost. I would still like to try another pair of Hokas, but felt like I needed to stick with the Ghosts what with the achilles issue now. It seems it's always something...

Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
