RUNNING
I ran 9 miles this past Friday. That's my longest so far this year. I averaged around a 10:30 pace and it was actually a pretty good run. I only walked 1/2 mile to cool down afterward because I was short on time.
What was really weird is that I wasn't even sore the next day! I'm still baffled by that. I'd only run twice the whole week, and it had been two weeks since I'd done 8 miles (I was sore after that). So, I don't know if it's this new 'ChiRunning' form I've been trying or what, but I'll take it!
I didn't even intend to do 9 Friday. I thought I would only do 5, and then try for a long run this weekend. But when I took off I felt really good. At some point I thought maybe I would go for 6 miles. Then when I decided to go around Foster Park (after 3 miles), I knew I was locked in for at least 7. Finally I just went for 9, and I'm glad I did.
I haven't been keeping up on a marathon training schedule. I look at one now and then, but I haven't decided on a marathon yet so it's hard to set a schedule when I don't know the end date. So, I'll just add miles to my long run each week, and every few I'll taper back a bit. Someday I need to commit to a race.
LAKE
Also on Friday... we spent the night with some friends at their house on Lake Wawasee. It was the husband's birthday, and they asked if we would come up to help celebrate. Heck, you bet! We never get invited anywhere, and don't have much for friends anymore. It was a swell time.
They have a beautiful house right on the lake. It has a big 'ol deck where you can just sit and look out over the water. Plus they are super laid back like us. We always enjoy just hanging out with them.
We took their boat to a restaurant for supper Friday and then a short ride around the lake. Saturday we slept in, and finally walked to a little bar/restaurant for lunch. We headed back to the Fort mid-afternoon.
So, it was a fairly good couple days for us. I'm still feeling a bit zombie-like for whatever reason, but it's nice to have a weekend.
