I was recently trying to find information about IFS (internal family systems therapy) and stumbled into an online "anxiety quiz" from this place. I took it, and scored a 51/100. It says, "Your score is on the moderate to higher end of the spectrum for anxiety which suggests that you experience too much stress and anxiety in your life."
This was not a surprise to me. While I don't suffer with anxiety like I used to - with panic attacks and all that - it is still an issue at times. I'd venture to guess much of it is caused by my inability to process information quickly. I don't "think on my feet" very well. I need time to contemplate things. Therefore, I'm often nervous that I will get into a situation and not know how to respond. Or, worse yet, I will respond poorly.
I'm also a fairly moody fuck, and the thought that I will react to something poorly makes me nervous. Sometimes I really can't help it.
Aaaaaanyway... the above website offers several practices to deal with anxiety. I already do many of them, and I mostly just get anxious about that. One suggestion they make is the practice of 'Expressive Writing.' I'm not sure if this is different from what I do on this blog or not. It's probably more similar to what I write in my notebook journals.
If you're interested, they offer the hows, whys and whatnots at this place: https://ggia.berkeley.edu/practice/expressive_writing
BONUS: I also found these 8 Worksheets and Exercises at https://positivepsychology.com/internal-family-systems-therapy/
So, there's all that stuff...
