Thanksgiving 2023

Another holiday has come and gone and I should probably get around to recording that it actually did take place. Our Thanksgiving this year consisted of several separate adventures.

First, on the Wednesday before, our little family met up in Anderson, IN at Eva's Pancake House for brunch. Isaac and Ricci had flown into Indy and drove up from there, and the Feipels and us drove down 69 from The Fort. It was a nice time though definitely too short. Still, better than nothing.

The lovely Lady Jane cooked the entire day on actual Thanksgiving Day. This is the menu of all the traditional fixins. The Feipels came over for supper around 6 and we stuffed ourselves while sharing our thanks around the table. Otherwise it was pretty much a day of watching football for me.

On Friday we packed up leftovers and Jane and I headed to my mom's house in Illinois. All our meals were pretty much leftovers and Jane took some over to her brother's and shared with him as well. I tinkered around and did some "chores" for my mom, but nothing too strenuous. It was a fairly laid back weekend - other than waking up to 2-3 inches of snow Sunday morning. This is the view from mom's front and back doors. It snowed the entire way back home but didn't amount to any accumulation.

Now we're in that weird time of year between holidays when old man winter tries to suck the joy out of our festivities. I'm trying my best to not let it happen by purposely stopping to look out the window now and then. Literally, just stop what I'm doing, walk to the window, and look. Maybe for 30 seconds; maybe longer. Sometimes I even remember to smile. For no apparent reason. :)
