Tdap, tdap, tdap

Who's that knockin' at my door? Why, it's the pharmacist, to give me one more (vaccine).

Yesterday I got my Tdap shot. That's tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. I did not know until I just now looked up how to spell these words that pertussis is the fancy name for whooping cough.

According to the information sheet from the pharmacy: Tdap is for children 7 years and older, adolescents, and adults. Adolescents should receive a dose preferably at age 11 or 12 years. Adults should receive a booster every 10 years, or after 5 years in the case of a severe or dirty wound or burn.

I only got one because my doctor said I was overdue. He actually said that more than a year ago. You can see I got right to it. It didn't cost me anything, but I think that may be because I've met my deductible for this year (I'm not entirely sure but I wasn't about to ask!).

The funny thing is... the pharmacist told me this would likely make my arm more sore than other vaccines like the flu or covid shot. However, it hasn't bothered me at all! In fact, I kind of started to wonder if she even gave me a shot until I noticed the needle mark in the mirror last night. I'm certainly not complaining, but I was all prepared for a sore arm and instead I don't feel anything.

Now all I've got left is my second shingles shot and I will be caught up on my vaccines. I will likely get that next week. Ho ho ho.
