No, I'm not talking about that. It's too cold.
I thought about starting another run streak on New Year's Day. I kept one up for six months a few winters back where I ran at least one mile every day. However, since I'm training for a marathon this winter, I thought a couple days rest each week was needed now.
Instead I've started doing at least 10 squats, 10 pushups, and 30 shoulder-tap planks each day. It's nothing too difficult that I can't find time to fit it in at some point during the day, yet these are good basic exercises everyone can benefit from. I will be curious to see how much of an increase there is by the end of the month... or how many days I forget to do them. At that point I will re-evaluate whether to extend the streak further or not.
Of course this is in addition to running 4 days a week (currently at 20 miles/week and growing), walking 5-10 miles a week, and lifting weights 2 days per week.
I'm a firm believer that anything is better than nothing, and whatever motivates us to move is better than not moving at all. At least that's how I get through each day...
