Problem with powerpoint

Why is it that I can't get Powerpoint to play all my songs? I just ripped two cd's to Windows Media Player, and I can insert all the songs off of one cd into powerpoint slides, but I can't get any of them to play in powerpoint from the other cd. First I just ripped it in the default setting (windows media audio), so I thought I would try it in the WAV format, and that didn't work either. It's driving me nuts because there is a song I want to use Sunday and I can't get it to insert! And I need to get my stinking sermon done (even starting it would be nice)! Arghhhh. Serenity now! Serenity now!

I'm not a PowerPoint user, but if it were me, I'd check the PROPERTIES on those music files to see if there was a glaring difference. Sometimes files come off of CD's with the READ ONLY attribute still on, etc. Since ALL the songs on one CD work, and ALL the songs on the other CD DON'T work, I'd check those file attributes and experiment with making them match the ones that DO work. ???

I'd say there's only about a 14% chance of this helping, but I had to take a stab at it.

Thanks, Mike, but this chainsaw still won't cut wood. I actually had it working TWICE, but then it quit again. I don't know if it's windows, powerpoint, or me... but I'm tired of monkeying with it for now. Grhhhhh.

Another problem that plagues Powerpoint is the LOCATION of the media incorporated into the presentation. Sometimes the .pps file gets moved to another computer and loses touch with the contributing media. Also, depending the version of Powerpoint, the directory path (folder location on the hard drive) can make a difference. If you have your source files in a "deep" folder, i.e. C:\this\that\theother\hemissedthebus\wemissedthebus\theymissedthebus\whensthenextbus\comfortablynumb.wav, it's better to simplify it to provide ideal conditions for Powerpoint, like put it in C:\MUSIC called NUMB.WAV. With later versions of Windows, the source material is affected by the user who logged on to the machine, i.e. - If you're not "the man" you can't have his data. Anyway, good luck.
