What gives you hope?

Son Isaac sent me a good article from his pastor - Matt Conner - about their church. It's called No Trespassing. While perusing his site I came across Kelley's site/idea/project. What Gives You Hope is a project she's doing where she takes polaroid pictures and tapes them up in different cities with that question ("What gives you hope?") and her blog address on the back. What a cool idea. You should check out her photos and give her your thoughts while you're at it. I hope I see one of her polaroids some day.

By the way... what does give you hope?

In one of my social psychology courses in college, I found out there is a term called "belief in a just world." That I think applies to me. They were very clinical about the definition, but I came away thinking, "yeah, I think I've got that... and thank God for it." But I don't necessarily think the WORLD is just... so I believe this "condition" could be better called "unyielding patriotism." I think I'd be miserable, like so many people I've met, to think I was surrounded by criminals and subversive ill-wishers. If you want to meet a cross-section of American, move to the crossroads of America and get yourself a seat at the end of the bar at a bar and grill that's near the intersection of two major highways--and talk to the people who come in. I was congratulated the other day for liking Sanford & Son... although I didn't know the handshake, we got along famously. I'm no Will Rogers, but I've met America, and "dey EIEET!" (they're alright. I'm working on my cool for next time.)

MR,
Yeah, that sounds about right. It's always nice to meet someone who doesn't have a big chip on their shoulder. Thanks for sharing.
