A nicer day (mostly)

Day 2 of this vacation was better than day 1. Even though I did cave in and look at my work email (sorry dear). But I also finally got to fly my kite. This is she at the end of her rope yesterday. I needed more string.

Last night we saw Maia Sharp (backed by superb bass player/band Darren Embry). Very nice. Great voice. Good musician. Darren added immensely. I hadn't actually heard of her before, but some pretty heavy people have recorded her music.

Sunny Taylor opened for Maia. My first time to really hear her too. Equally awesome as the headliner. She kind of takes your guts out, rearranges them, and puts them back where they should have been. I would loooooooooooove to get her to open for Jason Ringenberg July 27. Not sure how to go about doing that.

Anyway... a pretty good day of laying around not doing much of anything. I even ran OUTSIDE yesterday. But why is 3 miles so much harder outside than on the treadmill?

Jane just called and said she won the question-of-the-day on whatever radio station she listens to. So she won four tickets to a Wizards game and four tickets to Snickers Comedy Club. Cool!

I can't remember the question exactly. Something about 'what is a woman's second favorite food' (not just their favorite food, but... I can't remember - HELP JANE). Anyway, #1 was ice cream, and #2 was mac & cheese.

The question was "Of women surveyed, their number one comfort food was ice cream - what was their second?" For some reason, mac & cheese came right to mind, probably because that is what Carrie usually makes when she ends up at our house. As a side note, my voice sounded equally as dorky on the radio as on video... :(

We tried to ask Dan what the question was, but he didn't know how old he was, so we thought we'd just wait until you got home.

Funny story, I'm eating macaroni and cheese right now (yes, it's 3:20 a.m.). I had to make the spiral kind because I ate my last box of Spiderman last night. I only have two boxes left. I think that may be the least amount of the Blue Box that my half of the cupboard has seen all year.

tragedy.

I'm eating Pizza combos, but there's nothing new to read. I finally get a semi-calm morning to start right and all my regular blogs haven't advanced. (snif)

I'll bet Dan's nervous about the wedding this weekend. Some advice from my favorite President and fellow Illinoisian: Giving the speech on the 40th anniversary of D-Day to the surviving soldiers, RR was later asked how he made such a moving speech without interruption, he said he went over it many times until he could get all the way through. Using repetition he was able to steel himself against the words. Now, you may not want to desensitize yourself, as a President he felt he had to, but a suggestion in case it's something you want to avoid--at least until there's less people watching.
