Blue, blue windows behind the stars

Today hasn't been such a good day. Dad is doing good physically, but he's a bit out of his mind. People say it's common for many people after bypass surgery, so it's just a matter of time and I'm sure all will be fine. I don't think he's slept since waking up from the surgery on Thursday. Last night mom said he was up all night trying to get out of bed and wanting to go home. I'm sure he doesn't want to know what all he's been saying and doing. This is not any fun.

I thought about titling this "I really don't want to know" because... I don't. My dad has told people what to do his entire life - he's always been in charge of things. He can't understand now that he is no longer in charge. I don't want to be like that.

This chorus is not from the title song, but... it's here.
Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around

Peace (please).

I see your obscure Neil Young reference and raise you:

"Down on pain street,
disappointment lurks
Son, don't be home too late.
Try to get back by eight
Son, don't wait till the break of day
'Cause you know how time fades away.
Time fades away
You know how time fades away."

:o)

I hope your dad gets back on track mentally soon! At least the surgery was successful. What miraculous times we live in.

[The good part about being an ex-head is being able to handle anesthetic and pain killers correctly. :o) ]

Hang in there - your father, mother and you are all being prayed for by many people.

Hi Dan,
Still praying. We have recently experienced a similar role change with my dad. It is difficult and disorienting. Peace to you.

Dan,

My Mom threw the phone at her doctor while in that state after heart surgery. Needless to say she was all apologies and rather embarrassed after her chemistry regulated. She thought the bruises on her arms, which were from the IV's, was someone beating her up at night. I agree, not fun, but they're right, it does happen.

Jim, Grace, and MR,
Thanks for the comments. It's nice to know we're not alone.
