I expect to hear some grumbling today. I have once again changed the bulletin format.
When I came here we used those bulletins that you buy with the picture already on the front. Then we switched to the ones that had the little tear-off flap. Then we had tri-fold bulletins with a tear-off flap for awhile. Eventually we just started using a sheet of white paper folded in half. Those ready-made bulletins cost quite a bit (I think), and you can put everything that's on them on a sheet of paper and save yourself the expense.
Well, today we move to yet another phase. Now it's just a sheet of paper... with no fold. It's more of a newsletter format. I used to list the 'order of service' on the front, but it was pretty generic (we didn't list any specific songs titles or anything), and we often didn't follow the order exactly anyway. So I didn't think it was all that important to keep the order of service. Now it just has the name of the church (with phone numbers/email/etc., the date, one column has some basic info about us and what to expect at our gatherings, another column lists several opportunities for spiritual growth through our church, then there is a place for the calendar of upcoming events, things to know, and who is supposed to do what today and next week. On the back there is space to take notes, and also a spot where you can give feedback if you would like to. So basically it has everything our old bulletins had, but it's set up different, and it will save me the time of having to fold them. It will also save me the time of inserting the feedback form (and then having to pick them up from all over the church).
I don't really know why anyone would complain, because if you want it folded it's pretty easy to do that yourself. Plus, I don't know how many people even read the bulletin ever. At any rate, they're pretty much the same as before; but, you know, they are also different. So I'm sure someone will complain.
What I thought was perhaps most funny was that Tom just switched theirs to this same format last week. And neither one of us knew the other was doing it. I actually set ours up like this last week too, but didn't make the official change until today. Weird.
So... there ya go. That's about the extent of the excitement around here.
Peace out; and in.

I think they're awesome. Honestly, I had no idea what they were at first and when I figured it out I was a bit skeptical. The more I thought about it, though, the more I realized how much more practical they are. I say keep em. :)
Thanks!
