I had 4 new tires installed on the 2011 Ford Escape today. It has needed them for some time - actually, probably since we bought it 4 years ago - so this was one of the things I wanted to get done while off work. When we bought it, 2 of the tires had plugs in them, and one needed pumped up every couple weeks. I'm surprised they've lasted this long.
I shopped around online and found that Belle Tire had the best deal on the size tire I was looking for. It also just so happened that they were running a special on the day I decided to pull the plug. When I first searched for the best deal I decided on Belle, but was going to go with a cheaper brand of tire than the Michelin's that were already on the vehicle. After thinking it through, and talking to Jane, I got back on their site the next day and the Michelin's I wanted were actually cheaper than the 'cheaper' tire I was going to get ($50 off plus another $70 mail-in rebate)! So instead of $139 per tire, they were only $114 each!
I ended up going with the Michelin Latitude Tour 225/65R17 100T tire (what was on it when we bought it). The install includes a lifetime balance, rotation and flat repairs. I would also highly recommend the Belle Tire store on Illinois Road. I made my appointment on their website and "John" was my salesperson (apparently he's the manager). He was super nice and easy to deal with - which is saying something because I am not a big fan of "salespersons." They have a nice waiting area but I chose to walk over to the Menards next door and use the hour wait time to shop for ideas.
I do have to say, it feels a little weird driving a vehicle with brand new tires. It was almost like I was floating down the road. It's a good feeling, and while these are the most expensive tires I've ever purchased, I feel pretty good about it all the way around. I am very satisfied. :)
