F you (father's day, 5k, and family)

So, it's been awhile since I've written, and it seems like a lot has happened. Fathers Day, a 5k, family time, and farting around.

Fathers Day was fairly uneventful. Jane and I ran in the Associated Churches Fathers Day 5k. It was nothing special - just another 3.1 miles - and Jane finished second in her age group. On Sunday she gave me a gift of some Jamaican rum, along with tickets to see The Wailers (Bob Marley's band) at The Clyde Theater. We then went to church, but I ended up working the parking lot for most of the time as there was a Tincaps game.

The son and his wife came home for a few days (Sunday afternoon to Thursday afternoon). The whole family went to Ribfest for lunch (after church) - which is sort of a tradition. Ribfest seems to have really gone downhill though. It used to be my favorite festival of the summer, but I just don't enjoy it like I used to. It was still fun with the kids.

The entire family went to my parent's house Monday to Wednesday. It was a sweaty-hot time, and Jane and I slept in a tent (newly purchased) with the older two grandkids on the first night. It was ungodly hot, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. The next night we slept on the living room floor in the air conditioning. It was nice to be together with the entire family (my parents, kids, and grandkids)

We had our family picture taken at Friemann Square in Fort Wayne at 'Lunch on the Square' yesterday. It was pretty random but at least we did finally manage to get a picture of all of us.

Apparently this piece of art is a steel structure called Helmholtz. It was created by internationally renowned abstract sculptor Mark Di Suvero. It was a 1985 gift from Rea Magnet Wire, the Alcoa Foundation, and the artist. It was originally commissioned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rea Magnet's business in Fort Wayne, and Helmholtz honors physicist Hermann von Helmholtz, who specialized in magnetic field research.

So, there ya go...
