The mule at the clyde
We took in a fantabulous show at the lovely Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne Wednesday night (which is conveniently located just minutes from our home). Gov't Mule plastered a smile on my face that won't soon fade. Damn! I might even venture to say it was one of my favorite shows ever - or at least in a long long time. From the lights, sound, style and genre of music, to simple song selection and just downright blistering, beaming, banging, loud guitar... I was in heaven!
They played almost 3 full hours, with a minimal break in the middle. The first set was apparently mostly their material, then the second set consisted of covers and grooving that continued to set the full house a'movin' and a'shakin'. They covered the likes of Zeppellin, the Who, the Stones, Black Sabbath, Hendrix, Neil Young, and more. There are some nice live videos from the show here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7xqTBWmaeK0mxpz2eRDWA
This was perhaps the largest crowd I'd seen in my half-dozen or so shows at the Clyde. I was glad to see a packed house, and with a sweet smelling scent in the air it was hard not to get into the spectacle of the sights and sounds and be swept into a surrealeality I hoped would never end. Unfortunately I had to open at 5 am the next morning, so even staying until 11 pm was about all I could muster. I needed no alcohol to enjoy this show though. It was almost perfect.
So, while it was Halloween night, with many in costume mode, I considered this my early birthday present. It was my first time seeing the Mule, but I'm hoping not the last. All was well on this evening with m'Lady.
