Chili cook-off at work

Yesterday, on Valentine's Day, we had our 3rd annual chili cookoff where I work. This was the 2nd one for me. It actually went pretty well, and I enjoyed it!

We didn't have as many participants as last year, but there were 5 people who made chili between staff, spouses, and Y members. Interestingly, they were all 5 quite different in taste, and none were at all "weird."

Jane was one of the participants, and I honestly did like her chili the best. She got 3rd place. The others were all good too. One of our members, who is the gray-haired lady (pink top) in the pictures below, had the winning chili. It had a variety of meats, and some kind of barbeque flavor. It was pretty good.

As you can (kind of) see from some of the pics, there were a number of people who came through and joined in the festivities. I LIKE days like this. For as much as I like my silence, I also need days of great excitement to fill my extremes of intro/extroversion.

Thoughts for the future (should I happen to still be working there next year): Maybe not have it on Valentine's Day. I know one of the main employers in the building has a carry-in type thing on V-Day. Also, we need to maybe have more than 5 contestants. We pretty much ran out of chili by the time it was over at 1 pm. It was a good time though!
