Added responsibilities
I have had some extra responsibilities added to my plate both at work and at church.
At work I will now be doing some of the month-end paperwork as well as be the person responsible for checking memberships. Both of these are due to people leaving and by default I'm the only person left who's able. I had actually been asked to do it before but deferred to a co-worker because I thought it might help keep her on staff (giving her more to do). She left anyway, so I guess it just saved me a month or two of work.
I've also been added as an editor on the work Facebook page. This is something I had previously wanted to do, but at this point I really don't care and probably won't do much with it unless I need to. The other person who does it actually only works a few hours a week, but they do a pretty good job with it. It will be nice that I can now add things that come up more on-the-spot.
As for church, there are several things coming into shape: One, I was asked to be on the 'preaching team.' This means I will be doing a couple sermons per year. Second, I think Jane and I are going to take over finding people to pray and help with communion for each Sunday gathering. And third, I am going to start meeting with the pastor on a weekly basis - kind of listening, thinking together, and offering some administrative assistance/input.
The church responsibilities have probably been a long time coming. I also hope I/we haven't bitten off more than we can chew. It didn't seem like that much at first, but thinking about it now... ugh... I don't want to get overwhelmed. It shouldn't be, though, if we can simply get some systems in place. I mean, simply compiling a list of eligible people should be a huge help. Maybe we can even farm those things out once they're in place.
Anyway, it's nice to finally seem like people are interested in my help again. It's given me something to occupy my mind with - at least for a week - and hopefully will not only benefit me, but Jane and my relationships at work and church as well.
So, as of now, I'm still only working 32 hours/week at work, doing the parking lot for home Tincaps games, I will now be meeting with two different pastors on a weekly basis, and the marathon training. I guess it... is what it is...
