New running shoes (x2); 15 miles in the old

Sometimes you just get crazy and buy TWO new pair of running shoes. Right?? Well, that's what I did.

I've been intending to get some for awhile now. I bought my last pair in January, and just realized they have about 600 miles on them. They still do okay, but I can really feel the wear on the insoles.

My last pair were also the first pair of Brooks running shoes I've worn. The two new pair I bought this week are both Brooks shoes as well. I am sold, for the time being.

Yesterday I bought a pair of Ghost 11's - just like my last pair. They were on sale for $100 (the new 12's are set to arrive any day). I also tried on a pair of the Launch 6, but they only had them in a size 9 (half size larger than I normally wear). I went back today and opted to get them as well.

I loved my Ghost 11 shoes, but have wanted to try to Launch as well. I trained in two different shoes last year and kind of liked it. I've also wanted to try size 9 shoes. Even though I've always worn 8 1/2 to run in (1/2 size bigger than my regular shoes), it was suggested I could use a 9, so... we will see.

I feel kind of guilty with two new pair of running shoes, but that's basically all I wear anyway. Plus it's not like I won't use them. Once they're retired from running, they become my everyday casual and work shoes.

I also bought another bottle of 2Toms Sport Shield (for blisters and chafing). I haven't had any blister issues since I got the toe socks, but chafing is a constant concern.

The last run in my old Brooks Ghost 11's was my 15-miler today. It was 78 degrees farenheit at 6 am this morning (that was the low). Jane and I waited for the sun to rise and were on the road around 6:30. I ran a nice easy pace - stopping around 7 1/2 miles at church to set up the parking lot for tonight - and it took me about 2 hours 40 minutes. It wasn't as bad as I expected. In fact, I felt great at 8-9 miles still.

So, I will likely make that my last run in the old shoes. They will now become everyday/work shoes, along with my last two pair of Adidas.
