The last 8-mile wednesday (marathon training update)

Today was my last scheduled 8-mile run during the week. From here on out I taper off on the mid-week mileage.

I've been running 5 on Tuesday, 8 on Wednesday, 5 on Thursday, and then long runs on Saturdays. The Tuesday and Thursday runs have been the absolute WORST of any of them. I don't know why those short ones just kill me anymore.

The Wednesday 8-miler's, on the other hand, have been the BEST. I also don't know why I feel so good on Wednesdays and can run so well.

Some Tuesdays and Thursdays I can barely finish 5 miles at a 10-minute mile pace, yet I have consistently averaged around 9-minute miles on Wednesdays and felt great. Go figure.

Anyway, today I averaged 9:15-minute miles and had a good run. Although, yesterday I averaged 9:10 for 5 miles and felt good.

I also weighed myself today and I was 155 pounds. I think that's the lightest I've been in a long time (that I'm aware of). I would love to maintain that weight (or even lose another 5-10 lbs), but I'm guessing I will start putting on the pounds over the next month leading up to the marathon. I've recently started eating more carbs because I finally determined that's why I was feeling so worn down. Still, if I could run the marathon at under 160 I would be happy.

So, that's where I'm at today. Good bye, 8-mile runs. Hello, taper!
