Jane (and mark) to colorado
The lovely Lady took a quick weekend trip out to Colorado to see her brother. One of her other brothers also went along.
They departed the Indy airport around noon on Friday, and arrived back around 11 am Sunday. So, less than 24 hours of flying, renting a car and driving from Denver to Loveland and back, checking in and out of two hotels, supper with a nephew and his wife, and visiting the brother who just got back home from a brief hospital stay for a heart attack and stroke. Of course that doesn't include the two-hour one way trip to Indianapolis and back. That's a lot of stuff in a little bit of time!
Anyway, I am glad she was able to go, glad she had enough miles for a free flight, and glad another brother went along with her. I'm guessing she is plum worn out today though. Unfortunately this is her busy season at work so there is no let-up there.
One thing about Colorado is you never know what to expect from the weather. Apparently it was sunny and 70 on the basically one day they were there. So that was good.
One interesting tidbit from this trip. They rented a Hyundai Veloster (pictured). These are unique vehicles in that there are two doors on the passenger side (like a four-door car), but only ONE door on the driver side! I'd never heard of such a thing, but if you click the above link it explains the reasoning. Not a bad idea.
So, apparently the brother is doing "okay." He says he feels better (and looks better), even though he still relies on a walker to shuffle about the house. He has therapists who stop in and work with him, as well as a son and friend of the deceased other son who check on him from time to time.
As for me, I didn't do squat this weekend! I stayed home both nights. I was able to watch the Fighting Illini play basketball at GCU late Friday. They televise their games on Youtube and do quite the grand job of it. Saturday I dinked around and cleaned, napped, and watched college football. Sunday morning I did go for a little bike ride. I went around Foster Park and back, and I felt it in my knee. I guess more rest may be required. Ugh.
Today looks like a cold and miserable winter-like day. It's even supposed to snow. We'll see how that goes.
