Women's weekend to buda
The girls of the family took a weekend trip back to Buda to see my parents. This was part of A's birthday treat - a women's weekend together.
They left Friday evening when they got off work, and arrived back Sunday evening. Carrie drove their van - supposedly so A could watch movies - but apparently A thought it would be a good time for the girls to chat instead. :)
I think A enjoys time away from her brothers. Word is she wanted to stay up late and talk once they got to "Grandma Ruth Ann's" house too. She was the last one standing around 1 am.
Dad is still in the nursing home for rehab. He is doing much better physically, but I have heard the dementia is worse, and he wanders a lot. Especially at night. That's the problem with him being better physically - his mental issues become more problematic. And apparently the nursing home has started letting him call my mom at home! Why on earth would they do that?!?
Anyway, I watched the boys Saturday morning and early afternoon while their dad worked. We had fun. Mostly lazed around in front of the TV in the basement. I had bought these wooden ships for $2 each in the Walmart craft section. I thought that would be a fun project. Unfortunately, even though they were for ages 6+, they were almost too difficult even for me. The boys were good sports about it though. B took his home, but C said he could just leave his at our house.
**Pictured is "C's" ship. I was somewhat impressed he was able to paint the front sail. It's only held on by glue.

As far as your dad is concerned, have you heard of sundowning?
My dad used to call us several evenings a week to tell us that he didn't have a phone number for us.
I'm so sorry for what you are facing. It can be heartbreaking.
Thanks, Bill. Yes, sundowning is definitely a problem. Perhaps a worse problem is my mom being overwhelmed by having to deal with him/it by herself. It's exhausting even from a distance. As you well know...
