It's never too late

  • Raymond Chandler was 51 when his first book was published
  • Ray Kroc was 52 years old when he started McDonalds
  • J.K. Rowling was 32 when Harry Potter was published
  • Colonel Harland David Sanders was 65 years old when he started Kentucky Fried Chicken
  • Julia Child was 49 years old when her first cookbook was published
  • Bob Ross spent 20 years with the U.S. Air Force and only started his famous painting show on PBS when he was 41
  • Mark Twain wrote Huckleberry Finn at age 49.
I saw this list when I read Larry Cornett's article 'It's Never Too Late to Be Successful and Happy.' I liked the article, and links. And, as someone on the downward slope of life, it was something I needed to hear!

Sometimes I get stuck thinking that life has passed me by and I am just waiting until I can retire. Like, all I have left to look forward to is the day I no longer have to get up and go to work each morning. That's not a very inspiring mindset.

As I have suggested several times (to myself) over the last month or so, this stay-at-home pandemic interlude is a GREAT time to make some changes. It could be a change in jobs, careers, or simply attitude. It's a chance to start over, and that could/should be a good thing for many of us!

Sometimes we just need a reminder - Don't give up! One of my favorite quotes is Jason Ringenberg's line:
"The point is dying if we don't live when we're alive."
So, there ya go!

Peace out; and in.

I'm not familiar with that last quote -- where'd Jason say it?

I 'think' that was from his college days in a band called Shakespeare's Riot. I had a cassette tape they'd recorded in a living room that had a handful of songs on it. I know I mentioned it to Jason once (year's later) and he was like, "You just quoted me."
