12 miles

I did my long run today. It was 11 miles of jogging and 1 mile of walking. I've started counting the walking part because this virtual Triple Crown I'm doing in a couple weeks will likely include both running and walking. And, quite honestly, I feel great! It felt good while I was running, and I feel really good now afterward. It's such a satisfying feeling (the feeling good after it's done).

At any rate, I did it in 2 hours 15 minutes. Which means I should easily be able to do the half marathon part in 2 1/2 hours (which is my goal). I did not push it at all today, and my last mile was by far my fastest.

The day of the event I would like to do the 10k in 70 minutes or less, the half in 2 1/2 hours, and that will give me time to complete the 4-mile at a walking pace, if need be, in order to finish the Triple Crown in the allotted 5 hours (if it were an actual event). And...

I don't know if I've mentioned this or not, but I am planning to add another 2.9 miles at the end to make it a full fledged MARATHON. No way am I running that far and not doing a marathon! My third in three years.

Of course it's all contingent on my being able to make it that far. I've only been training for a half (plus adding a little mileage here and there). So it could all fall apart. But, what the heck, running a solo marathon is good enough for me - even if it's just an attempt. We'll see.

Psalm 119:33-40

"Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees,
that I may follow it to the end.
34Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law
and obey it with all my heart.
35 Direct me in the path of your commands,
    for there I find delight.
36 Turn my heart toward your statutes
    and not toward selfish gain.
37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things;
preserve my life according to your word.
38 Fulfill your promise to your servant,
so that you may be feared.
39 Take away the disgrace I dread,
    for your laws are good.
40 How I long for your precepts!
In your righteousness preserve my life."
