Oh, man... things are crazy and crazier still. What in the world? But it's Saturday morning, and that means I get to ease into the day, drink some coffee, do some reading, and since I'm clear-headed and not drinking - oh boy!!
- I really enjoyed this excerpt, 'By Bullet or Ballot: One of the Only Successful Coups in America' from David Zucchino's book 'Wilmington's Lie.' It struck me how intertwined white supremacy in America is with sexism. Like, so much of it is because white men fear losing their jobs and "their" women to black men. Which, of course, is all about control. Very interesting...
- I also got wrapped up in Steven Levy's Wired article 'A 25-Year-Old Bet Comes Due: Has Tech Destroyed Society?'. Some really, really good food for thought - which may or may not inspire further reading and book-buying - and especially given the stance several social media platforms are just now taking with the US President and such (he's been banned from Twitter, Facebook, and the taking down of Parlor)...
- A change of pace was this pocket collection of articles: 'More Than A Feeling: 12 Stories About the Science of Anxiety.' I've yet to read any of them, but the titles look appealing, and we are going to need to understand the workings of anxiety in society if we're going to begin to muddle our way through this sh*tstorm we're presently caught up in.
- I just did a quick read of the statement at 'Christians Against Christian Nationalism.' If you know me at all I hope you know my stance opposing nationalism in any way, shape or form. I am leery of anything that pigeonholes me politically though, so I don't want to be too reactionary. I have never been sold on the democrat/republican thing, and even capitalism itself. As for being an American: "This world is not my home" is my answer. I am unsure of many things, and some of the things I'm sure of I can't really explain. So...
- I've said this before, if you care about any of this stuff, I can't recommend highly enough that you follow Matt Tebbe! Yes, he's crass, opinionated, and has a LOT to say, but he is well-informed and never afraid to admit when he's unsure or wrong either.
Well, the sun be shining outside and I've had enough coffee to rouse a dead horse. The Lions and Josh Garrels helped fuel this tangent. I love Saturday mornings!!! Oh, and I need to remind myself to purchase the book 'Jesus and John Wayne.'

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” -Matthew 6:19-21
