This morning I've been thinking about the effects of isolation on organizations that supposedly value TEAMWORK. How exactly is that supposed to... work? What will it do to these organizations?
It's an issue for both me and my wife. The company we work for likes to talk about 'teamwork'... but as far as our jobs in particular... it's not happening, and I don't see how it's possible.
I see my boss maybe 5 minutes a week. I almost NEVER see the person that's supposed to be my executive director. Mostly I work alone. How am I supposed to feel a part of the team?
We've had this indoor 5k the last couple years. My boss asked me to start thinking about what we might do this year. I've tried, but without someone to discuss it with... what's the point.
My wife has the same issues. They want people in her office to alternate days they are there and days they work from home. So all the people she used to bounce ideas off of are now absent (and vice versa). Not that they even work on the same things necessarily, but still... sometimes it's just having someone else there.
Anyway, I wonder how prevalent this is in other organizations. And, yes, I know there is zoom, and slack, and texting, and email. I am also not advocating we forget about social distancing and pandemic protocols. I just think it's an issue that isn't being addressed. Or at least I'm not hearing about it.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."
