I love Saturday. Especially in the morning. Sunday is okay too, but you can sense that bastard Monday waiting around the corner. Saturday though... it's the best!
I took this pic last Saturday. Sitting at my computer in front of the west window. It is one of my favorite places. I feel like I can see the whole world... even though, really, no one hardly ever drives down our street.
I'm trying to decide between one of these four pics for a new profile. Sort of a "re-branding." This is my 'Saturday face.' I think I like the one up top, but then I can't make up my mind...
Anyway, just some randoms...
- I was up at 5:30 this morning. I'd slept enough (went to bed before 10 last night).
- I enjoyed reading about the Fighting Illini's nice win against scum Iowa in college basketball.
- Yesterday I started re-reading Vonnegut's 'Slaughterhouse Five, Or The Children's Crusade.'
- Next up I will likely finally tackle Michener's 'The Drifters.' Jane has read it multiple times, and for some odd reason I never have.
- I ended the week at work feeling fairly upbeat. I don't know why I so often fight against the system, rather than merely forgetting the system and doing what I think should be done.
- I hope to take a long walk today... before the impending doom of the first snow of the season hits later tonight. They are predicting 4-8 inches, which will be the most we've had all year. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2" or less. I could be wrong though.
- Running has been going ok. I will likely write about it more later. I'm pretty much doing a mile or so at a time, walking in between. Usually covering 4-5 miles in an hour, 3 days per week. I'm not pushing it, and just starting to get my breathing back a little. My right foot/ankle bother me a little, but so far the achilles feels ok.
- We've been watching the old Roger Moore TV series 'The Saint'. We just downloaded Roku TV a couple weeks ago and didn't even realize we had access to a jillion more channels and movies for free.
- I still say one of the best things about quarantine was bringing our stereo upstairs. We listen to wayyyy more music now. I usually wind down after work listening to an album or cd in full.
- January is almost over and we still haven't had any alcohol, and we've also been doing at least a 60-second plank each day. I see no reason to start/stop once February gets here. I'm feeling pretty good, but boy did people drink a lot in old TV shows (Westerns and The Saint). We'll see.
- Well, I think we're going to attempt the grocery store this morning instead of tomorrow. I imagine there will be just short of a million people there since it's supposed to snow. Pray for us please.

Isaiah 55:1-2
“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare."

You've got a bit of a Philip Seymour Hoffman look going on there -- I like!
Saturdays are the best and I love spending them with you.
