Endurance and encouragement (I ran more than a mile!)

"It's always something." That seems to a be recurring phrase shared between me and my old-guy buddies. If it's not one thing, it's another.

I've actually been able to run again though! Tuesday I slogged through 3.1 miles at an 11-12 minute pace without stopping. My lungs still hurt around the 1/2-mile mark, but I made it. Then Wednesday I just planned to run 2 miles and walk 2. I actually did the first mile in 10:40, and the second in 9:55!! I haven't been able to run that fast in I don't know how long... and my lungs didn't hurt!!! I don't know what the deal was, but I'm not complaining.

Naturally, though, while my legs and feet had been feeling great since I've had this lung thing, my legs are sore today. Whatever.

So, I don't know if whatever I've had going on in my respiratory system finally cleared up, if it's just lactic build-up moving around my body, or if it has something to do with round two of an antibiotic for the groin thing I've had going on (currently taking levoFLOXacin). I just hope it's behind me!

It's funny how our faith journey seems to work similarly. Sometimes daily devotions are great, but our attitude sucks (or vice versa). Sometimes we can be full of knowledge and wisdom, but void of empathy (and vice versa). I suppose the list could go on.

Anyway, I look forward to that day when everything clicks. It may take until there's a new heaven and new earth, but I hope to keep plodding along. One foot in front of the other; one day at a time.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” -Romans 15:5-6
