I did another double-digit run this past Friday. Apparently I skipped from 10 miles on July 16th to 12. I thought I did 11 at some point, but last week was a scheduled step back to 7, and my blog archive says 10 was the longest this year before the 12.
Anyway, it was a good run. I averaged a 10:20 pace and was pretty steady throughout. No miles were under 10 and none were more than the 10:33 first mile. The last 3 miles were a bit of a chore, but I was happy enough since I'd worked all day and didn't start the run until 2:30 pm.
It was fortunately a very mild weather day. I think somewhere in the upper 70s. Still, I need to start running earlier in the day just to get my body (and mind) used to it. I also need to get some gels to fuel these longer runs. I hadn't even thought about it until the middle of this run. I had water, but could have used some energy towards the end.
I wore my black ghosts - for the 2nd or third time - and it was the first time I wore toe socks this year. I wore some new ones I got that are thinner than my other pair. I had to tighten my shoes up, and I'm still not sure how I like them. During the run I could have sworn I had a blister on my foot - though I can't remember now which foot it was. So... we'll see.
I was more sore after this run than the previous, but still not too bad. I guess I will keep going...
