Jane's work christmas party

We went to Jane's work Christmas party last night. I was undecided on going right up to the last minute.

The event was held at Hop River Brewing and the food was provided by Bravas food truck. Everyone received two drink tickets and a meal ticket. Nothing fancy, but adequate.

My hesitance was centered on the CEO and Jane's former boss. I don't think I can be cordial with either of them just yet because of how they treated her during the job transfer thing.

In the end I finally decided life was too short and it wouldn't do me or Jane any good for me to not go (as long as I could keep my mouth shut!). Plus, as a part-timer, this is ALL I'm going to get for Christmas from my workplace. It's better than nothing, I guess.

Anyway, I ended up having a couple nice conversations with some of Jane's coworkers, as well as the husband of Jane's new boss. It was good.

It reminded me that, while I am still introverted, I DO have an extrovert side too. I'd actually say I'm equally both! I like talking to people sometimes. I need to be listened to and heard, and I enjoy listening to and interacting with people who do so with me. I struggle, however, when I don't think I'm being taken seriously. Then I can clam up.

So, one way I'm making my way through life is moments like this where I consciously discern what's more important. Last night it was more important that I overlook certain issues than to wile away in my pitiful anger.

I'm glad I did.
