Godspeed

I've probably shared this before. It seems like I have. If not, I've at least thought about it. A lot!

We went through this "Godspeed" 8-week study awhile ago with some friends. At the beginning of it, the authors Julie & Matt Canlis say this:

"The word 'Godspeed' comes from the old English phrase God Spede - meaning may God flourish you..... To live at Godspeed means to be present to where we are, and present to who surrounds us."

I really suck at that. How about you?

I prefer to be 'done with' things. I want to 'get there.' I want to 'be.' What I fear is, in my desire... I am missing out on the actual living part. By overlooking the doing, the getting there, and the becoming, maybe I'm missing the LIFE part.... You know, that place where God is.

I don't know... That's what I want to think about today. I'd like to slow down.... and just sit with that a bit. I really want to be more present to where I am and who I'm with, rather than be so wrapped up inside my head all the time. I'd like to live... at Godspeed.

Amen.

Psalm 36:5-9

Your steadfast love, O Lord, is as great as all the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your justice is as solid as God’s mountains. Your decisions are as full of wisdom as the oceans are with water. You are concerned for men and animals alike. How precious is your constant love, O God! All humanity takes refuge in the shadow of your wings. You feed them with blessings from your own table and let them drink from your rivers of delight.

For you are the Fountain of life; our light is from your light.
