Apparently I am going to be the Healthy Heart Ambassador at my workplace. I know, crazy, right!? How does a guy who has no heart get put in this position?? Well, I'm about the only constant of the 3 or 4 people presently working here.
Anyway, it required a couple online Y class certifications before I can attend the in-person training. So I recently did these two classes:
- Orientation To Healthy Living At The Y
- Introduction to the YMCA's Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program
They actually weren't bad classes, and I learned something from each... But here's my complaint:
All these trainings are audio-visual online classes. There is NO written material, and once you complete the class you can't go back over it and review.
For starters, I am not an audio learner. I need to read things. Usually I need to read it several times. Plus, I don't recall things very well, so if it's not written down there's no way I'm going to remember it. Fortunately I jotted down a few notes, but there are several things I wish now I could go back over.... and I can't.
It's no wonder no one knows what the hell they're doing around here. It's mostly just disappointing though... because I would like to learn and be involved and whatnot... but everything is just so much "going through the motions," and doing things just for the sake of saying they've been done. I suppose that's corporate America.
Meh, I'm in a bad mood, and this is just another reason why...
