I got a new Garmin Forerunner 45 watch for running. This is what it looks like. That's about all I know about it.
I didn't want one that was too complicated, and this was the most basic GPS watch I could find. It still has so many functions - many of which I'm not interested in or won't use. However I do like that it displays time, pace and distance. And it connects with GPS way faster than my old watch. I've also figured out how to switch over to time of day and back while I'm running. I never did figure that out on my last watch(s). But I'm not interested in getting texts or emails or anything like that on my wrist. When I go for a run I don't want to be bothered.
I ended up purchasing it online through Walmart. They had it on sale for $113 (Garmin price is $199). Of course, when I first saw it online it said it was in stock at the store two miles from our house. So I drove down there and it had a price of like $159 or something. Apparently it was only $113 online. So I went back home, ordered it, and it was supposed to be delivered the next day. Well, guess what? That turned into the day after that, three days after that, and finally it arrived a week later. Whatever.
My old Timex Ironman watch still works. Sort of. It had given me fits for the past few months though. It stopped adding runs to the app where I could see a breakdown awhile back, it would sometimes just go haywire and say I was running way slower or faster than I was, and it would randomly take forever to connect to GPS. I figure I got my $40 out of it, but it was time to move on to something a little more reliable. I'm not sure if the old one is still supported even.
So, that's what's happening with that.
