Jane's colonoscopy

Since it's been three years since the last time I wrote about this, apparently it was time for the lovely lady to have another. Her doctor suggests she have a colonoscopy every three years since her dad had colon cancer. So, she took off work a little early last Thursday to drink her prep, and early Friday morning she survived yet another inspection.

Some tidbits from this round:

  • This was the first time she's gotten sick the night before (like, throwing up sick). Thursday she could only have liquids and jello, and she said she felt a little uneasy when she got home from work. I think it was around 10:30 when I was awakened by a thud in the bathroom and it was her falling into the wall. She wasn't able to make it back to the bed on her own. Then she started dry-heaving. Things were a bit tense for awhile, and I was on the brink of a panic attack, but she was finally able to fall back asleep. We're not sure if she was dehydrated or what, but I hope that doesn't happen again.
  • We needed to be at the surgery center at 6am, so neither of us got much sleep. That was okay because it was a pretty chill day afterward spent mostly in the recliner watching movies.
  • We arrived at 6am, checked in, and they took her back about 6:10. About an hour later they came and got me. It was 8:11 when they finally took her back for the procedure. It was almost exactly 30 minutes later when they said they were done and I could come back in. By 9:10 I pulled the car up to the door and we were headed home. That seemed like pretty quick work, and I'm not complaining.
  • The doctor (appropriately named Dr. Wallet) said she once again only had one polyp and it didn't look like anything but he would have it biopsied anyway.
  • This was our first time at the IU Health Southwest Surgery Center. It was super nice! It seems to be new, is easy to get to, had a clean and spacious waiting area as well as patient rooms, and they don't mess around. All the staff were very nice as well. I would highly recommend this place if anyone has the option to choose.
  • We grabbed some McDs for breakfast on the way home. There were no issues after and on Saturday life was back to normal.

So, that's about all there is to say about that. Which is good. It's probably not something you really wanted to read about anyway, is it? :)

I remember having Canuckle-head Thanksgiving at the hospital. My father-in-law was dying -- we balked, but my sister-in-law said, "Will having another McD's breakfast kill him?"
