Ct scan

Yeeaaah... I didn't manage to get a post written yesterday. I worked out, had an early-lunch meeting, set up the concert hall (which took longer than usual because we had a beer order to put away), and went to the grand-daughter's basketball game. I know most people do these things AND work a regular job. Mmm, whatever.

Anyway, today I had a CT Scan (with contrast) at the hospital. This was in preparation for the ablation procedure in March. I had to be there at 10:30 to check in, they took me back right at the 11AM appointment time, and I was all done by 11:30.

Originally they told me not to eat anything or take my morning meds beforehand, however someone called the other day and said they don't do that anymore. So I ate a regular breakfast and took my pills. I was kinda hoping that meant I would have the scan without contrast (no IV). No such luck, though, and I think it was the most uncomfortable IV I've ever had.

When they took me back to radiology I just sat in a chair in the hallway and they put the IV port in. I had to wait there maybe 15 minutes. Once I went into the scan room they had me hop on the table, put my arms above my head, stuck some monitor patches on my chest and hooked wires to them, then they hooked up the IV hose. They slid me into the tube up to my chin. I had to inhale and hold my breath a few times, then they said I would feel a warm sensation (when they pumped the iodine into my blood). I got a funny taste in my mouth and it felt like warm water was flushing through my body. Fortunately the first nurse had told me it may feel like I'm peeing my pants, and it did! It only lasted maybe 20 seconds. Then I was done and they unhooked the wires and removed my IV.

As soon as I was done the lady said I could get my coat and I was free to leave. It maybe took 10 minutes.

I was surprised I didn't have to put a gown on. I didn't even have to take my glasses off or take my phone out of my pocket. Weird.

I think the estimated cost with insurance was ~$650. Geesh. What else are you gonna do though?

So, that's done. Now I just live my life and wait for the ablation...
