I've decided to nominate myself to be on the democratic ticket as vice-president of the United States. I mean, if Hilary can do it, why can't I? Geesh.
Okay... I'm coming out. I am glad, glad, glad that Obama got the nod. I could go off on a rant against Hilary, but... I'd really just as soon she go away. I hope she is not the vp. I just don't trust her, or Bill. And, to be perfectly honest, my personal opinion is that the only reason she's stayed in the race this long is because they're willing to do whatever they can to keep a black man from being president. No one is ever going to say that, of course. So, since I am no one...
Anyway... I was kinda stunned yesterday when I read that something like 80% of Southern Baptist pastors back John McMahon, while only 1% are for Obama. What?!? I guess it shouldn't surprise me, but geezaroo... that just seems backwards. I mean, who is it that has actually worked in the church; for Christian causes? It's not Johnny. I dunno... he may be a very nice guy, but not only does he not impress me in the least - he scares the heck outta me!
So, if anyone wants to get me a dad's day present you can get me one of these:
Peace out, folks; and in.

Well see...i thought I had your father's day present all picked out but if this is what you really want, easily done. :)
For me the other thing between the three candidates is their voice - I mean, we're gonna have to listen to whoever gets elected for at least the next four years. W's voice drives me INSANE. And both McCain and the Hill have that scolding voice that has already gotten on my nerves just during the campaign.
That said, I'm still voting Libertarian. :o)
I don't even know who John McMahon is. Is he related to Jim McMahon? :)
I just can't vote for someone who is for abortion. Its like I would be voting to approve murder.....
Would you vote for someone who supports the war in Iraq and capital punishment? Because to me, that is voting for murder.
That said...I still don't have a candidate to vote for.
Amen, Carrie Jade!
I think John McMahon is Ed's uncle, twice removed from his mothers side.
And I've already volunteered to be Obama's Pastor as he dumped his. I mean look at it, he needs some conservitive input, and look at the chance to influence the Dem's.
Nobody's voting for war in Iraq, they're voting for PEACE in Iraq, and if we have to kick some more booty to do it, so be it.
PEACE.
Now we've got religion and politics. Let's mix them together in a 2-liter bottle with some Diet Coke and Mentos.
I'll be writing in Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez
Ummmm... ¡feliz cumpleaƱos!
Hey... I have some comments. Cool.
I don't have time right now to go in-depth, but... I never said I agreed with Obama on everything. But certainly more than I do with McMahon.
And, I refer to McCain as McMahon because he reminds me of a cross between Ed McMahon (the good-ole-boy-school) and Vince McMahon (the nutjob). :) I hadn't thought of Jim. I will probably continue to refer to him as John McMahon.
Keep the faith, brothers (and sisters)!
Wow...interesting comment thread--glad I kept going!
I've lived in the South all my life...I'm in a SBC church now.... And in the South, in a SBC? Well...a lot of people in these parts think Jesus was a middle-class white republican.
I'm not kidding.
And, thankfully, I'm not one of the above :/....
Jesus had plenty of money, must have given to the poor so often that at the last supper they thought he sent Judas out. Also he had to feed and take care of at least 12 if not 70 guys year round for 3 years. not really middle class is it.. and who is suppose to have all the wealth anyway satan's gang? umm no
I think it's possible that pretty soon there will be no middle class, and the church will be called on to carry out Jesus' mission in the good ole usa like we haven't had to in a long time.
I forgot I was going to comment more on this thread. I've been busy, and in a sorta funk. I don't remember what I was going to say now. But it's nice havin' a post with lots of comments for a change! :) Thanks everyone.
Brian, I would really like to know where you get your biblical basis for claiming that Jesus had "plenty of money." I admit that I have only had two years in my degree in Bible in Religion, but I have never heard anything even remotely close to this statement, in fact I've heard only the exact opposite. I guess it's possible that your definition of "plenty" could be different than mine, or maybe you're being sarcastic, either way, I'm interested to hear what you come up with. I'm also not sure what you mean by "taking care" of "12 if not 70 guys." I had always thought that Mary and Martha "took care" of all of them.
I want to get a bumper sticker that says "Don't blame me, I voted for Jason Ringenberg."
