Jane was involved in an accident Saturday. She was on her way to buy flowers for the church for Easter. She was going east on Jefferson Blvd., and a mother and daughter driving a full-size pickup pulled out of Taylor street to go West on Jefferson, and they pulled right out in front of her. They were at a stop sign, and Jane was tooling along in the left lane. Jane had just bought a cup of coffee and had it in the cup holder between the seats. She said when she came to a stop all she felt was warm wetness all over her. At first she thought it was blood, but it turned out the coffee had just sprayed all over everything. At least it didn't ruin her phone or my ipod.
She called me about 10:25 and I headed that way. I suppose I got there around 10:45 maybe, and the tow truck was just arriving. There were 2 or 3 cops there directing traffic around them (interestingly enough she said all 3 were women officers). Luckily a cop was coming down Jefferson just as it happened, and they were there while Jane was still talking to the 911 people.
The left front bumper of the truck ran smack into Jane's right front bumper. You can see the skid marks where Jane tried to stop, but they both ended up right in the middle of the four-lane. I'm not sure how this lady didn't see her, but I was just glad everyone was okay. Jane is plenty sore though - from where the seat belt was; and her knee; and kind of her whole right side. Fortunately the air bag didn't go off. Though I'm not at all sure why. I suppose if someone was in the passenger seat it may have.
I felt bad for the other lady because I guess when she called her husband he just yelled and cussed at her. One of the officers asked if she had a ride and she said they were just going to go to Walmart and try to find one.
The car doesn't look as bad in this picture as it did in person. The right front fender is pretty well gone, and the tire is pushed into the door. There was antifreeze and car parts scattered about. I would guess it will be totaled, but we will find out sometime today for sure. If it is totaled I am not looking forward to car shopping. Oh well.
We bought this car on September 1, 2008. I blogged about it here and here. So we had it a little more than a year and a half. It was a good car while we had it. Sorry the picture is a little blurry. The tow truck was about to back over me.

Man that sucks. I'm glad you're wife is okay, though.
Thanks WP.
