It is Christmas Eve day, and I think I'm finally starting to feel a little Christmas spirit myself even. One thing I always remember about Christmas Eve growing up was that I had this crazy notion that animals talked sometime during the night - maybe at midnight. I don't know if this was in a tv show, or movie, or if I just dreamed it up. But I remember that I always wanted to sleep in the barn with the dogs or the horses on Christmas Eve to see if they talked. It was like a burning desire I had and, really, I still sorta feel its tug every year. Though I admit that I'm glad our cat is an inside cat.
At any rate, I saw this picture of the manger scene created by Brian Christensen, which was posted on Dave Fitch's blog. Wow... that about sums it up, doesn't it? If you can make it out, it's a picture of the manger scene, except everyone is over watching tv instead of being with the baby Jesus. Sort of a sad but true commentary on how so many of us go about life. I know it convicted me.
I didn't post it to make anyone feel bad, but because I wanted to wish you a Christ-honoring Christmas. I can be pretty irreverent at times, and I say a lot of things tongue-in-cheek, but I really do appreciate all the people who read my blog for whatever reason. I don't usually consider any readers when I write - it's mostly just a journal of sorts here - but today I am thinking about you, and praying that you will have a blessed and beautiful Christmas. Whether you are family or friend or mere web-acquaintance, I pray that Jesus' presence might be felt in your heart on this day, and always.
Peace and blessings; inside and out.

I'm pretty sure the animals talk every night. Thanks for the Christmas wishes and same to you.
My Christmas blessings were the most wonderful kind - a wonderful Christmas Eve service and dinner with our little family. Perfect.
