Isaac & ricci, anna's first night alone, and a new couch

We have already had quite an eventful weekend. Son Isaac was home Friday night and Saturday, and he brought his girlfriend, Ricci, to Fort Wayne for the first time. They were home for a wonderful wedding reception Friday night, and then stayed most of the day Saturday too. We went to lunch at EOC, then Isaac helped me get our new couch (which I will talk about later). Here is a pic of them from the reception.

Saturday night we got to keep Annabanana for our first solo overnight experience (also her first night away from mom and dad). Drew Carrie went to a wedding in Bloomington, so they dropped our favorite granddaughter off around noon Saturday. They will be back sometime this afternoon. We had a splendid good time. We went to a graduation open house, and then she slept from about 9 pm until 5 am. There is not much better in the world than a granddaughter's smile.

And... we finally found a couch for the basement. It is a big ole' black leather thing. We found it at a used furniture place on Wells Street. They had just got it in, and it hadn't even been cleaned up yet or anything. It has several tears on it, and it stinks to high heaven (the people were obviously smokers), but it is really comfortable and looks pretty cool. I was glad Isaac was here to help get it in the basement, because I don't think Jane and I could have done it ourselves. We had to take the doors off, and the legs of the couch, and we still had to push and shove and scraped up the wall pretty good. At one point I thought we were going to all be trapped in the basement, because the couch was about halfway in and it wouldn't move either direction. I worked up a heavy duty sweat, but we finally got it. I'm not thinking it is going to ever leave the basement in one piece though. Last night I bought a bunch of air fresheners and baking soda to try to get rid of the stale cigarette smell. Jane washed it off with dish soap, and we will also use some saddle soap on it at some point. Anyway, I am glad that is done. The lawn chairs just weren't working out so well. It did make our huge basement living room look a little smaller though. Also a little homier.

Now I need to get ready for our worship gathering. It is Pentecost Sunday, and I asked everyone on our Facebook Page to wear red today. We'll see how that works out. I'm not getting my hopes up, but I do hope at least someone besides me wears red.

Peace out; and in.

Not the best picture I've ever seen of Ricci and I. We don't look very interested. It was a good time, though.

It was this one or the pic of Ricci's tattoo (which I liked, btw). Thanks again for helping with the couch!
