The basement remodel is done

We finally have our basement back. After getting water in it on May 10 from some seriously heavy rains, the carpet and pad was removed in both rooms and the wainscoting in the living room. We moved all the furniture, toys, and other junk either into the laundry room, upstairs, or the garage. So I've been parking my car outside since then.

While the room was empty Jane decided it would be a good time to paint. Since we bought the house Jane has painted every room upstairs, but we hadn't done a thing downstairs. So she painted over the ugly green checked wallpaper in the living room, and got rid of the bright blue in the rec room. I really like the colors she chose (as you can see in the pics below).

Jane also selected the new carpet, and I like it much better than what was there before. While we were getting the downstairs done we also went ahead and had them recarpet the upstairs hallway. It had this puky green/blue/turqois carpet from when we bought the place. We used the same carpet that they put in the rec room.

ServePro of West Fort Wayne did the water cleanup and removal, and Eagle Contracting of New Haven did the construction and carpeting. It was nice having one company to do both the carpet and construction, and they did an absolutely fantastic job on the carpet. You can't even find the seams. Actually, I would highly recommend both companies. We couldn't be happier.

So, I'm glad that's done. Now we need to put everything back downstairs. We need to get rid of a bunch of stuff, and we'd like to rearrange things, but we'll see. Pics from before are here. Below are the pics of the completed project.
