I'm not retired

It seems, for some reason, everyone assumes I am retired. I mean, do I look that old? Do people think I'm rich? I do not know, but I have been hearing that ever since I quit at the storage place.

Now, it's true that maybe I am 'tired'... but I am far from 'retired.' I'm just a tad-past-middle-aged old man looking for work. Granted, I have taken a part-time job. That wasn't entirely because I wanted too, though it may be that I needed to at the time. However, I am not opposed to the right full-time job, and I would certainly like to be getting more hours than I am. I guess you could say I am 'under-employed.'

Ideally I would like to work about 30 hours a week, and then have time to volunteer at church or some type of ministry/service. I would be open to a couple different part-time jobs if need be.

Today happens to be the last day I fill in for another employee during the day. So as of now my only scheduled work is from 5-9 am, 3 days per week. That's probably not going to cut it. I don't know why the Y doesn't give people more hours.

At any rate, I also don't know why people think I'm retired. I try not to think about it myself because, well, it's not a flattering feeling. It's honestly getting a little disconcerting...

Hey man -- maybe you're just giving off that "chill vibe" that everybody envies in the retired? If so, I say keep it up!

Ha! That must be it. Not to be confused with my normal look of indifference. ;)
