The BSBT group (minus Chelsea) |
Yesterday was m'Lady's birthday. She spent it, of course, doing what she does. She did her morning run at the Y where I work, then worked her job at the Y admin office, and then we went out for supper. She also got to go to the BMV and get a new drivers license!
She is currently in training for a spring half-marathon (as am I), so she's been doing a fair amount of running/exercise lately. Actually, she's stayed at it for most of the winter. She's quite the fitness fanatic, if I do say so myself.
We went to the newly opened Hop River Brewing Company with our Beer Study and Bible Tasting group, plus pastor Brian (and minus Chelsea). It's a neat place, but it was noisy and they don't have much for food. Fortunately daughter Carrie baked a cake and brought it to the restaurant.
We actually had our drinks and meal paid for as part of the Engaging Young Adults group Brian and I are in. So we discussed some of the questions for that with the young adults in the group, and we also discussed the readings from the book of Genesis dealing with the story of Joseph. I thought it was a good discussion all the way around - although a little hard to hear at times. We were supposed to get a tour of the place, but it never happened. Oh well. We were familiar with one of the servers (Tabitha), and Drew must know one of the owners.
Hop River is a cool place for what it is. Just a great big room with picnic table seating. It's set up well for groups, and they have a huge supply of board games and whatnot for group activities. I started the evening with a flight of their own four, and then had 1 pint of Two Truths & A Rye (red ale). For food I had the White BBX Chicken (Gunthorp Farms Roast Chicken, White BBX Sauce, and Pickle Salad). It came with kettle chips. It was okay, but again, I don't think food is really their thing.
As far as Jane's birthday, I just did the usual: made her a personalized card (with poem), and a box of chocolates from DeBrands. She just bought some new Hoka running shoes and said that was her present. Carrie made her the cake, and she got phone calls from Isaac, my parents, and her brothers Terry and Keith. Keith, by the way, is having surgery today in Colorado.

Other than that, there's not much to report. It was another year for the lovely lady, and she's another year finer.
