New running shoes (unveiling)

I didn't actually buy a new pair of running shoes - I bought these blue/gray Brooks Ghost 11's last September. This week I finally took them out of the box and started wearing them!

I think I bought three pair of this same exact kind of shoe last year. The first were in January, another in July, and in September I saw a sale on them and bought this pair just to keep until I needed them. I wrote about it HERE.

The gray one's I bought last July are still okay. I did most of my marathon training and ran the marathon in them, so they're getting close to needing replaced. I will alternate them in as everyday/work shoes now with the Brooks Launch 6 I bought at the same time last year (which need new insoles, btw).

I jogged/walked a couple days this week, and there's nothing like a new pair of shoes. My leg and foot were pretty sore earlier the other day, but feel okay today. I've been trying to force myself to do more icing and work with the foam roller and whatnot. I also scraped my ankle and foot MYSELF the other night with the back of a spoon. That was a treat (not). It's about like the physical therapist was doing, except I am way more gentle with myself!

Anyway, the jury's still out on my running situation. I am going to assume just in a recovery phase. I will hopefully jog a couple miles tomorrow. We may yet decide to do a 5k next weekend (14th). We'll see.

I wore Brooks for YEARS but my new foot doctor ordered me to use the New Balance 840/4. He says they'll be best to help the plantar fasciitis. I guess he knows what he's doing. They do seem pretty durable.
