So long, pool table

We got rid of our pool table yesterday. The only thing I am sad about is... apparently I don't have a picture of it. Oh well.

The story on this pool table is... My parents won it in a drawing at a sporting goods store when I was a young lad. I don't remember exactly how old I was, but it is probably close to 50 years old.

We had it at my parents house for quite awhile, until it eventually migrated to the garage for storage. When my sister got a house with a big basement, she took it. At some point in time it ended up at my cousin Lori's house in Brimfield, Illinois. Apparently we acquired it in 2012 - I wrote about it in a little more detail HERE.

I/we used to play pool quite a bit when we first got it. It's just been leaning against the wall for awhile though. It wasn't that we 'needed' to get rid of it, but we have slowly been trying to downsize and get rid of stuff. Whether we end up moving into a smaller place, or, shoot, anymore who knows what our living arrangements might end up looking like... We are trying to get rid of stuff. The pool table was not a necessity (actually, it is somewhat just the opposite).

The guy who bought Drew Carrie's house - who is also a friend of ours - ended up taking it. There are three bachelors that live in his house, so they will likely use it more than us. When I asked him if he wanted it, he said "yes" almost before I was done talking. :)

So, we have a big empty room in the basement again. We have talked about putting all three of the kid's beds down there, and turning one of the upstairs bedrooms into an office. Who knows. I just hope it doesn't involve acquiring more stuff! Although, somehow we no longer have an additional double bed. We have three single beds. Whatever.
